Description

Now you can honor their memory with a
Memorial Plaque
at Cape May’s World War II Lookout Tower

Built in 1942 as part of the immense Fort Miles system to defend the Delaware River and Bay from enemy ships during World War II, Fire Control Tower No. 23 played an important role in homeland defense. New Jersey’s last freestanding World War II tower has been restored and is open to the public. Visitors can climb to the observation platform at the top and see equipment used to determine fir- ing coordinates for massive guns on both sides of the Delaware Bay.

A spiral staircase takes visitors to the top. On each level are interpretive panels and photos that explain the Tower’s function, as well as Cape May’s important role in homeland defense during World War II. Located at 725 Sunset Blvd. in Lower Township near Cape May Point, the Tower is open daily April through October.

Affixed to the wire mesh of the spiral staircase leading to the top of the Tower, Memorial Plaques pay tribute to men and women who served in the military at any time in our country’s history. As one of the few New Jersey remnants of World War II, the Tower is a fitting place to honor your loved ones.

Space is limited.

Memorial Plaques will be 7 inches wide by 5 inches high, made of an exterior grade
Metalex with a bronze patina.
Only $150 each
